The colour of a smell

How I translated a perfume into paper, petals and pastel walls for Maison Clair.

You cannot photograph a scent, but you can photograph the feeling it leaves behind.

For Paper Bloom we smelled the fragrance every morning before choosing the paper for the wall. Powdery meant lilac; the base notes meant warm sand.

It is the least scientific process I know, and the one clients remember.
